• The Reserve Bank of India has projected Gross Value Added rate at 7.3% for FY18. 

• India’s first private sector built satellite IRNSS-1H failed after its launch from Sriharikota spaceport in Andhra Pradesh. The PSLV-C39 mission carrying the replacement navigation satellite IRNSS-1H failed on Thursday evening. This was the PSLV's first failure- in what was seen as a routine mission- after 39 continuously successful launches and only the second such instance 1993.

• IAS officer Anita Karwal was appointed as the new Chairperson of Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE. She would be replacing Rajesh Kumar Chaturvedi, who has been appointed as Director General of the National Skill Development Agency.

• The government has notified the electronic way (e-way) bill, exempting certain items of mass consumption, including fruits, vegetables, food grains, meat, bread, curd, books, and jewellery. 

• Ahmedabad in Gujarat has been formally accorded the status of India’s first World Heritage City by UNESCO.
